What is OCR PDF?
OCR PDF makes a scanned PDF searchable and selectable. It reads the text in each page image using optical character recognition, in Hindi and English by default, and returns a PDF where you can search and copy the text.
Common uses
- Searching scanned documents. Find a word across a scanned contract or book with Ctrl+F.
- Copying text from scans. Select and copy lines from a document that was only an image.
- Hindi and English documents. Recognise Devanagari and Latin text in the same file.
- Preparing for conversion. Run OCR before PDF to Word so text can be recognised.

Tips for best results
- Higher-quality, straight scans give far better recognition.
- Large scans take longer because every page is processed.
- Compress the result afterwards if it is too big to email.
- Proof-read important numbers; OCR can misread poor scans.
